Information and news about company developments

One of the biggest challenges we have as an industry is de-mystifying new technologies, and helping people understand how this technology helps them and the problems it solves.  The challenge is further heightened when you realise that there are different audiences for your messages, and they all have a different focus. In terms of NFC, I am hoping that what we have created with our explainer video is something that has meaning and reference to everybody in the oft-quoted "value-chain", from supplier / manufacturers, to retailers, and right the way to consumers. We hope you enjoy it but more importantly find it useful.  ...

As you may have realised, over the course of the last few weeks we have re-branded the business. Tagonic never really felt that exciting and we wanted to identify the business in a way that would present the opportunity and fun that NFC enabled campaigns can create. We were also acutely aware that it's better to re-brand sooner rather than later. We also think the name and image is more memorable. Admittedly it won't be to everyone's tastes but we've certainly seen a number of smiles in reaction to the name, and that can't be a bad thing. The previous website is now...

We've made a couple of enhancements to the platform recently which we wanted to share. One will add value and simplicty to the summary reporting of campaigns, and the other is a powerful new feature on mobile recognition. Reporting We have made the reporting of mobile platform more consistent. Previously we were reporting a bit of a miss-match of devices and ecosyetm (OS) in the platform breakdown of a campaign. From now on we'll be reporting on the following :- Android iOS BlackBerry Symbian Windows Phone 7 Windows Phone 8 Other This allows you to get a feel for the breakdown...

It's always seems strange to me that businesses don't fully leverage and promote their digital destinations in the real world. Companies can pay a LOT of money to digital agencies to drive Facebook Likes and build their digital communities, but when you get out into the real world, and you are interacting the company or brand in their real estate, there is seldom a mention of their digital companion. An NFC campaign can really help to drive digital conversions. Couple it with an offer and you have the perfect blend of a contextual conversation and sales opportunity that makes sense for...

I've talked previously about the opportunity to drive customer loyalty and engagement through the NFC-enabling of Foursquare and Facebook campaigns in retail and I thought it might be a good idea to show you how this is set up and works in practice. To begin with you need to define the campaign in the campaign tool in your management admin panel. The campaign name is whatever you want to call it. You can look up your retail space / location through our integration to both Foursquare and Facebook. In this case, Foursquare, we put in the Post Code and Business Name...

If your brand or business utilises Foursquare to drive customer engagement, retention and loyalty, then NFC can really help drive that engagement and offer a quick and seamless experience for your customers. The benefits of NFC enabled social media include :- 1) Experience. Simple, quick and easy. Doesn't need an app to work. Works across all handsets which are NFC enabled. 2) Location. If you are offering discounts and offers to loyal customers on Foursquare, how do you know they really are in your store or premises when they say they are? With NFC embedded in a poster that is secured...

NFC enabled business cards are interesting and certainly a talking point so people remember you. However, with the advent of NFC, if someone wants your contact details and has an NFC phone then they can always just tap against your phone to receive your details (if you have an NFC phone which we assume is more than likely). So there are other options. In this case we highlight 2 other options for programming the NFC chip. Both are cross platform (i.e. they work across all NFC devices) and don't require an app to be downloaded to work. The first is the...

I am delighted to announce that today we've launched a competition and we are prepared to give away up to 1000 tags to the best idea submitted to help make it happen. If you had 1000 Tags, how would you implement them to drive consumer engagement? The caveat is that the tags must be programmable to a web destination. So you might want to serve content, apps, do some social network engagement or just simply present a discount. We are looking for thought provoking, innovative, fun, and engaging ideas. We'd also like to understand how exactly you would plan to implement the tags,...

Tagonic today offered the next 10 people to sign-up to our newsletter a free NFC enabling of their business card. If you qualify, you will be contacted and simply asked to send 2 or 3 business cards (the 3rd is a contingency and will be returned if not used) to us, which we will then convert and NFC enable, before sending it back to you. Depending on how popular this wil we might extend it, but we are keen to see how popular it is. If you are an existing subscriber of our newsletter you will already have been contacted and...

Tagonic officially entered it's 2nd week of existence today. So many things to do. Some of them hopelessly time dependent for seemingly little reward, but necessary.  Accountants, phone lines, email, website, logos, business cards, mobile contracts, the list goes on. Starting your own business does open your eyes to the capability of other businesses to do business. Some have been great, others not so. The not so's unsurprisingly didn't get the business but it got me thinking. Did they just have a bad day or are they always like that? If it's the latter it makes you wonder how long they...
